About

Last updated on September 17th, 2023 at 08:16 pm

Cruise Port Advisor began in late 2014 and has since grown to a website with over 400 pages of valuable content. Our goal was and still is to help vacationers find the best information about their cruise departure and cruise destination ports around North & South America.

Our website has helpful information about cruise news, cruise tipscruise terminal parking information, park and cruise as well as park and fly cruise hotel & parking packages. We know that when cruisers depart from one of the over 20 ports in the United States or Canada, the vacation will be extended at the beginning or the end of the cruise to enjoy the sights and sounds around the area of the cruise departure.

About the Authors

Jonathon & Joy Hyjek are a 40-something couple who love to travel, explore new places, try new food and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

We first entered the world of cruising in 2013, for our 10th wedding anniversary and chose to take our first cruise out of Baltimore, on the Grandeur of the Seas, and…well…That first cruise ended in a fire. You can read about it here.

We started the website, CruisePortAdvisor.com because we realized at that time, that there was a need for a place where people who are DIY cruisers could find out information about putting the pieces together.

Where do you park? Where do you stay?  How do you get to the ship?

There were so many moving parts to our first cruise that we decided to start a website for other people who might also be looking for this information.

We’re natural researchers and storytellers so this little project has been an almost 10-year labour of love.

Jonathon Hyjek

A 40-something guy born with Spina Bifida. With a natural curiosity for many things, I fell in love with travel and cruises. Even though the first cruise ended in a fire, we still fell in love with cruising and have been on several since. By day I’m in the digital marketing business, which lends itself well to maintaining this website, but I’ve also owned a small grocery store and worked in Financial Services in the past. I also like to blog about disability-related topics on my blog, Chase The Journey.com.  You can follow Jonathon on his YouTube Channel as well as Instagram or Twitter

Joy Hyjek

At an undisclosed age, Joy is the brains behind much of the content on Cruise Port Advisor. Through our own cruise experiences and extensive research, Joy works on keeping this website up-to-date. She’s constantly learning about new ships, itineraries, cruise ports and likely knows much more than many travel agents.

For fun, Joy is usually planning our next cruise and is involved in music at church, putting her Music & Education degrees to good use. Joy likes to keep a lower profile on social media, saving her posts for her friends and family.
