Fly & Cruise Hotels Near Port of Virginia – Norfolk Cruise Terminal
If you're flying in before your cruise, the hotels below are picked specifically because they run a reliable airport shuttle — land, get a good night's sleep, and get to the ship the next morning without arranging your own transportation.
- ORF (Norfolk International) — ~7 miles from Half Moone Terminal; ~15 min by rideshare; American, Delta, Southwest, United
- DCA (Reagan National) / RIC (Richmond) — viable if fares are cheaper; 90–180 min drive to Norfolk
- Best area to stay: Waterside District or Downtown Norfolk — 15 min from ORF by rideshare, walking distance to the terminal
- Night before: Dinner in Ghent, Waterside District for waterfront drinks, NEON arts district if you enjoy gallery walking
- Tip: ORF is one of the most stress-free airports in the mid-Atlantic — compact, easy to navigate, and a quick rideshare to the terminal
Norfolk International Airport is a short drive from the cruise terminal, and fly-cruise hotel packages here are generally less expensive than Florida or New York equivalents, reflecting the smaller size of this port.
Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is about 14 miles from the Half Moone cruise terminal, and there's no direct public transit between the two, so plan on an Uber, Lyft, or shuttle service running roughly $25-35. Hotels clustered near the airport — the DoubleTree by Hilton Norfolk Airport, Residence Inn by Marriott Norfolk Airport, and budget-friendly Tru by Hilton Norfolk Airport — offer free airport shuttles, though that's a shuttle to the airport itself rather than to the cruise terminal, so you'll still need separate transport downtown on embarkation morning. If you're flying in the same day your ship departs, local guides advise scheduling your arrival no later than early afternoon to leave a comfortable buffer before boarding closes.
